If you are using Windows 7 or 8, you have probably noticed the small Windows icon in the task bar for quite a while. Microsoft has chosen this means to remind you that Windows 10 is available! This release for Windows 10 has been very different from previous versions – it is being offered as a free download for the first year.

Upgrade for free until July 29th

To get the free upgrade, you have until July 29th to download. If you upgrade after this date, you will pay the retail price of $119 for the Home version and $199 for Pro version. The free upgrade has been successful is getting users to download – Windows 10 is now running on over 200 million devices currently. It is quickly becoming the most widely-used version of Windows available.

We recommend using Chrome or Firefox as your browser once you have upgraded to Windows 10. We do not recommend the Microsoft Edge browser just yet, as it is still in development and you may have difficulties with viewing certain pages.

If you aren’t ready to upgrade, no worries. Windows 7 or 8.1 won’t reach the end of support until 2020 at the earliest. Then these operating systems will be phased out the same way earlier versions have been.
