The Paragon tech team announced recently the end of its support for the Internet Explorer 8 and Opera browsers.
Citing an “ongoing decline” in usage of Internet Explorer 8 and “extremely low” usage numbers for Opera, LPS MLS Solutions, the makers of Paragon 5, says it will halt support for both on February 4, 2013.
The firm will continue to support on a “rolling basis” what they term as the “most recent” versions of Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Internet Explorer 9 & 10. Compatible browsers for iPad 1, 2 & 3 and Android tablets will also be supported.
The end of support does not equate to immediate non-functionality with Paragon 5, but it does mean if you experience problems with the MLS software and you’re using “IE8” or an Opera browser Paragon will no longer offer help aside from recommending a system upgrade.
If you use the now 11-year-old Windows XP as your operating system keep in mind, because it’s older software, you will not be able to download Internet Explorer 9 or 10, which will leave you with using Firefox, Chrome and Safari. Unfortunately the Paragon tech team has not specified what the “most recent” versions of those browsers are leaving you with close to no support, so it might be best to keep an eye out for a newer computer and operating system moving into 2013.
