NNRMLS honors the service of outgoing Trustees and those that continue to serve, welcomes incoming Board Members and thanks those Trustees filling Officer roles in 2021.
2020 and the NNRMLS Board of Trustees
As the year comes to a close, NNRMLS would like to highlight its outgoing Trustees, those that will continue to serve into 2021, including incoming officers and welcome our incoming Board members.
The year we look back on is quite different than the year we envisioned it would be. Through all the challenges and unknowns that 2020 served up, all the Trustees, kept the NNRMLS Member at the center of our team’s focus.
Outgoing NNRMLS Trustees
Outgoing members, Kathy Tatro, Carol Murphy and Amy Shocket played an integral role in guiding the organization through these challenges, informing the Board’s decision-making process, bringing their real-world experiences and thoughtful perspectives to the virtual table each month.
“Anyone should JUMP if given this opportunity,” Kathy Tatro, REALTOR® with RE/MAX Realty Affiliates, said. “From the CEO to every staff member to the Board of Trustees, the paramount goal is to give the REALTORS® the most comprehensive and latest programs to use, and the most fantastic service available, to help make each REALTOR® the best he or she can be!” Kathy added that in her years on the Board she enjoyed serving with three different CEOs.
“It was an honor to accept the responsibility to serve on the BOT having been a founding member of the NNRMLS,” said Terra Bella Properties Broker/Owner Carol Murphy. “What sticks in my mind, and what I will not forget, is the dedication each and every BOT member brings to the process. We are certainly fortunate to have the varied levels of experience and concern for all our members.”
NNRMLS honored Kathy Tatro, Carol Murphy and outgoing Trustee President Amy Shocket at the December BOT meeting.
“I’ve been fortunate to work with great leaders who are also great people,” said NNRMLS CEO George Pickard. “Kathy’s input has always been constructive. She speaks from a position of confidence and genuine positivity. Carol’s thoughtful insight and strategic focus guided decisions that will ensure NNRMLS is positioned to best serve our members for the long haul. I thank Carol and Kathy for their engagement, for volunteering to lead and making a difference.”
New, Incoming Trustees
As these leaders depart their NNRMLS Trustee roles, NNRMLS welcomes its new trustees; Leslie Cain, appointed by Sierra Nevada REALTORS®, Pat Schweigert, and Angelica Reyes, both appointed by Reno Sparks Association of REALTORS®.
Cain, Reyes and Schweigert have already started to devote their time to NNRMLS by attending the last few meetings of 2020 as non-voting guests. Their input, expertise and time are appreciated.
The NNRMLS leadership team welcomes these three volunteer leaders into the fold and we are enthusiastic about getting to know and work alongside them!
Trustees That Continue to Serve
Also honored and thanked at December’s meeting were the NNRMLS Trustees that continue to serve tirelessly: Ken Amundson, Avis Cherry, Dan Rider, Debbie Logan, Helen Graham, Marge Hauge and Steve Bohler. The MLS staff is thankful for such steady leadership and we are looking forward to continuing our work with this group in 2021!
Among NNRMLS’ Board Members that continue to volunteer and serve, three have stepped up to serve as officers.
Our next Board of Trustees meeting will be called to order by 2021 President, Helen Graham. Debbie Logan will serve as Vice President and Ken Amundson will be taking on the role of Treasurer.
“I joined the NNRMLS Board of Trustees in 2017 and as time progressed, I gained valuable experience as I participated in critical decisions about evaluating possible new software and services that would enhance the member’s MLS experience,” 2021 President Helen Graham said in a written statement. “I believe that the most important role of the position of the President of the Board is to lead the Trustees in their relationships with the shareholders and the NNRMLS staff and together make the right decisions as we move forward together.”
The NNRMLS BOT in 2021
Incoming President Helen Graham said there are an incredible number of changes and challenges being presented to both NNRMLS and MLSs all over the United States as many of our partners and vendors merge and change their business directions putting us in a position where we must be agile and rapidly adapt to adjust to their new models and plans. The way we adapt to these changes will directly impact the future of NNRMLS.
NNRMLS is grateful for all of the leaders mentioned above, who are willing to volunteer their valuable time and lend their talents to help our organization be the best it can be for all of its members.
Next time you encounter any of these leaders NNRMS asks that you give them a big ‘thank you’ for their hard work and their commitment to our organization!
Cheers to 2021 and the NNRMLS Board of Trustees; past, present and future!
Editor’s note: We wanted to hear from incoming NNRMLS Board President Helen Graham about her time on the Board, challenges she sees on the horizon and advice she would give to anyone wanting to give back. Here is Helen’s written statement:
Conversation from 2021 President of NNRMLS
I am honored to be the 2021 President of the Northern Nevada Regional MLS Board of Trustees and look forward to an exciting new year.
I joined the NNRMLS Board of Trustees in 2017 and have to say at first felt a little overwhelmed by the volume of information and projects that I was introduced to that were either in progress or planning stages, designed to bring the most value to our members.
As time progressed, I gained valuable experience as I participated in critical decisions about evaluating possible new software and services that would enhance the member’s MLS experience.
I believe that the most important role of the position of the President of the Board of Trustees is to lead the Trustees in their relationships with the shareholders and the NNRMLS staff and together make the right decisions as we move forward together.
There are an incredible number of changes and challenges being presented to both NNRMLS and MLSs all over the United States as many of our partners and vendors merge and change their business directions which puts us in a position where we have to be agile and change rapidly to adjust to their new models and plans. The way we adapt to these changes could directly impact the future of NNRMLS.
I would say to any future potential members of NNRMLS that it’s a wonderful opportunity to learn and grow and contribute to bringing the highest quality services to our members.
Yours in Service
2021 President NNRMLS Board of Trustees
