internet explorer1. Microsoft Has Announced the End of Support for All Versions of Internet Explorer Released Before IE 11

Microsoft has announced that as of January 12, 2016, only the most current version of Internet Explorer (IE) will receive support and security updates. IE is being replaced by the Microsft Edge browser. Internet Explorer 11 is the last and final version of Internet Explorer.

IE 11 will continue to receive security updates, compatibility fixes, and technical support from Microsoft on Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10. IE 11 will not run on Windows XP or Windows Vista as these operating systems do not meet Paragon’s minimum system requirements.

2. Lower Your Risk of Viruses, Spyware, and Malware

The primary reason for keeping current on browser versions is security. Your browser is constantly updated to help prevent viruses, spyware and malware from infecting your system. When a program no longer receives those updates, the chance of an infection increases. The vulnerabilities become well known and are exploited. You may also no longer be able to view some websites or they may not load properly.

3. New Encryption Requirements

Typically, when Microsoft ends support for a program, third party websites and programs stop supporting it a short time later. This will be the case with Paragon and other MLS programs, for one big reason: The encryption protocols necessary to conduct secure business on the Internet cannot run in older versions of Internet Explorer.

4. Even If You Don’t Use Internet Explorer, It’s Still Good to Have a Backup Plan

If you do not use Internet Explorer as your default browser, this won’t be as big of a problem for you but there is still cause for some concern. Internet Explorer is there as the backup when the other browsers fail. You will want to have it updated or the next time you need it, or it may not work. The increased security risk is cause for concern because some of the sites that only work properly in Internet Explorer aren’t very secure.
